AGM report

I am delighted to report that we had a super AGM and picnic a week ago in the sunshine.  It was wonderful to see 27 people inside the hall and also brilliant to see the children playing happily outside with Leaders and helpers.

It’s been a brilliant year.  647 badges awarded.  So much fun, laughter, learning and individuals smashing personal challenges.  Children have stretched themselves, grown in confidence and worked together to learn new skills and do amazing things.  Parents have worked with the Leaders to help their children achieve even more and 39 are DBSd and help out with sessions and camps.  Our committee have worked behind the scenes to get things done and done well.  Leaders have been absolutely brilliant and have arranged camps, hikes, crafts, sports, traditional scouting skills, gardening, environmental projects, visits here there and everywhere (I was lucky to join in on the chocolate factory!) and so much more.  Phew, it’s been quite a year and I hope everyone is enjoying a little break before coming back in the autumn for much more fun and challenge.  Through the post recently came my Scouting magazine with a message from Bear Grylls saying “Don’t count the days – Make the days count”.  A great message for us all and I hope that you’ll agree that all at Barton Scouts do exactly that.  See draft minutes of the AGM below.
